PSC 100 Exploring the Solar System

An introduction to the history of astronomy and the current exploration of our solar system. Topics include: the scientific method and how it is applied in astronomy, the Copernican Revolution, gravity and orbits, composition and formation of the solar system, and human exploration of the solar system.

An introduction to astronomy outside the solar system. Topics include: the scientific method and how it is applied in astronomy, measurement and classification of stars, telescopes and astronomical instruments, evolution of stars, black holes, galaxies, cosmology, and the search for life beyond Earth.

A course on fundamentals of earth science. Topics include: geologic processes and history of Earth, techniques of weather forecasting, and methods for maintaining environmental integrity.
